We had a great Fourth of July weekend this year. We had a little family party with fireworks at home, where we were really hoping this year would be our first “crying-free” experience for Maddox and we came so close to making it. But then a loud firework came along and Maddox lost it wailing and expressing his displeasure. Oh well, there’s always next year and we can hope that by the time he turns 4 he'll be more excited for the "noisy" ones.
Then the next day we met some friends from church for great local fireworks and had so much fun. A good friend of ours spoiled all the kids with glow-in-the-dark lightsabers, which were a BIG hit.
Then the fireworks show was amazing, and it's so fun to spend holidays with friends who love our children and let them climb all over them (except for Maddox, who was so scared that he didn't move from my lap).
Oh, just look how happy Maddox looks watching the fireworks -- he didn't smile til they were over.
And once we got home, the lightsabers were still a great toy.
Maddox even fell asleep with his the next day at about 10 in the morning (do you think we wore him out?)
Happy 4th of July!
