Spring Break Tourists

We got to be tourists while the McKinleys were out here visiting, and we had such a fun time seeing the sites with them and taking LOTS and LOTS of pictures! Nana and Papa Ken pretty much ran us ragged with all the stuff they dragged us to (or was it the other way around?), but they were great sports even with the across the country jet-lag and Papa Ken being sick. We had such a wonderful time spending time with them!

Historical Downtown Philly: Milt went down with Nana and Papa Ken and the girls to see the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall (which, embarrassingly enough, neither Milt, McKinley, or Kennedy had seen yet). Amish Country (Intercourse, PA in Lancaster County): After a delicious trip to our favorite Amish Smorgasbord, Shady Maple, we went out to the Kitchen Kettle Village in Intercourse, PA for some fun shopping and enjoying the great weather and beautiful countryside. Nana especially loved all the great Amish quilts and furniture, and she wished she could bring everything back in her suitcase!

Our D.C. Trip: We spent a couple of days down in D.C. during the busiest time of the year there...the Cherry Blossom Festival! It was absolutely gorgeous with all the Cherry trees in bloom, but it sure was more crowded than we have ever seen it before (so we got lots of pictures of blossoms to remember it by...that way next year when it's that crowded we can just look at the pictures!)

Valley Forge: One of our last outings was just down the road from our house to Valley Forge, and it was beautiful (and much much much less crowded than DC had been, which was a nice change of pace!) Photos here are (clockwise from top left): The soldier barracks; Nana and Papa Ken at the arch; George Washington's house; General Anthony Wayne statue (this is where we sled down the hill during our huge winter snow storms...boy is it different all green and lush!); and Papa reading over one of the memorials.

We had so much fun just spending time with them and enjoying the Easter Holiday and McKinley's Spring Break. Thank you guys for coming!
